When the new Bankruptcy Code became effective in 1979, Paul Hollender was one of the first to master its intricacies, applying it to debtors, creditors, individuals and corporations. Currently, Mr. Hollender focuses on Chapter 11 reorganizations, heading up the firm's bankruptcy department.
He often engages in speaking and educational programs, most recently having served as chairman of a CLE seminar sponsored by the New York County Lawyers Association entitled Ethical Issues for Bankruptcy Lawyers.
Hollender is a regular contributor to the New York State Bar Journal and the New York Law Journal. In addition he writes a newsletter entitled Bankruptcy Notes, which guides attorneys and accountants on the impacts of Bankruptcy Law. He also provides a newsletter directed towards consumers. He was a regular contributor and served for many years on the Editorial Board for the Bankruptcy Bar Bulletin, eventually becoming Editor in Chief in the late 1980's.
Since 1993 Hollender has been designated "Board Certified" by the American Board of Certification, in both Consumer Bankruptcy Law and Business Bankruptcy Law, joining a select list of National Bankruptcy Attorneys. Since 2006 he has been a member of the organization's Board of Directors. He has also received the Martindale-Hubbell "AV" peer-rating, the highest such rating available to any individual lawyer. The "AV" rating shows that a lawyer has reached the height of professional excellence. He or she has usually practiced law for many years, and is recognized for the highest levels of skill and integrity.
He is currently a member of the New York County Lawyers Association Business Bankruptcy Committee, the Brooklyn Bar Association Bankruptcy Committee, and the American Bankruptcy Institute. Hollender has also served on the Consumer Bankruptcy Committee of the New York County Lawyers Association. In 1984 he became active in the Bankruptcy Lawyers Bar Association, serving for five years as a member of its Board of Governors.

For five years he served as representative to the Network of Bar Leaders, a city-wide organization, acting as treasurer from 1992-1995
Having graduated magna cum laude from the State University of New York at Buffalo, Hollender went on to its law school to obtain his law degree in 1975. He is admitted to practice in New York State, the U.S. District Courts of the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
